Virginia

Back on November 29th I told you all of a friend of mine that had lost a grandchild...well I was sort of incorrect, and sort of not incorrect. The child that has gone to Heaven is Virginia's niece, her sister's grandchild.  And last evening I went to church, well it is Wednesday, don't you all go to church on Wednesday.  In the Fundamental churches and in the Pentecostal churches, you can pretty much have church anytime.   Last evening we were priviledged to hear her testimony spanning a period of many years, but looking primarily at the last few months...Let me ask you something, when you are faced with adversity, what do you do?  When I am faced with adversity, I must be quite honest, I sometimes feel like burying my head in the sand, I don't, but there have been times when I have felt like doing just this.

Well I don't think that I have ever meet another human being who has had to deal with so much adversity and come out of it with such an amazing testimony that is so honoring to our Lord and Savior as has Virginia.  She is beyond measure one of the finest women I have ever had the priviledge to know.  And while we are not terribly close, I do know that I can call her my friend, and I really hope that I will have the opportunity to grow closer to her as time goes by.  Virginia has so much to teach us.  She is an awesome mother of older children and a grandmother as am I, a wife, as am I and a leader, which I am not.  I think last evening my "take away" from my time at church was this, when our children do something we don't particularly care for, this is not the time for yelling and screaming, this is the time to get on our knees and pray to our Father.  If when a child does something that isn't necessarily good, if they learn from it, this becomes a life experience. And that God is putting that child in a position to learn and grow, not by our hands as parents, but by God showing them the directions that they now need to go.  Sometimes as parents I think we feel like, we have to fix things, whatever those things may be, it is our responsibility to fix it!  No it is not!  When a child reaches a certain age, they become there own.  And we as parents need to continue to pray for these children and be there for them but, it is no longer up to us to correct them as God and only God can correct them.  We need to pray.  That is now our job.
Virginia is an awesome person as are the rest of the members of her family; I really look forward to seeing what God has in store for this wonderful family who has an amazing faith in our Heavenly Father, all of them!

Now it is about that time, yup, you know what you need to do, go and be a blessing!
