Everybodies Thankful!

Lately I am seeing all sorts of lists of things that people are "Thankful for." Please do not misunderstand, I do think that this is a really good thing, but, we need to be thankful like this everyday!  I know that Thanksgiving is right around the corner and that this is why so many people are focused on being "thankful." And this is a good thing...I would much rather have people, in general, focus on the good rather than the bad!

This picture above is something that I would be "Thankful" for!  My husband Tim painted this a few years back and I really like it, it would make a nice Christmas card, wouldn't it?  I don't know about you but I can imagine a time when this could have been Tim and me on our way to one of the children's homes for Thanksgiving dinner.  You know a sort of different take on, "over the river and thru the woods..."

Back to the subject at hand...Being Thankful.  I believe!  I was going to say something else but then God told me to say this instead..."I believe," and this is the primary reason for my thankfulness, because I have a faith and a belief in God!  I have a joy in my heart everyday, because of this belief.
Although, on a very real note, my husband would have to say I wasn't very thankful or joyful for our dog Louis, last evening.

It is in moments like I had last evening, when we may have to work on keeping our joy uppermost in our mind.  Other wise it may take a brief powder.  And for those of you who don't know what I mean by this, it simply means it, our joy, will leave.  Or in other words, you may allow the devil and his cronies in for just a few seconds, but then your blood pressure goes up and you feel agitated, and you need to get alone and calm down and get your joy in Jesus back!  And the longer you go without your, "joy in Jesus," the longer it will take to get it back.  So do not let this happen.  As soon as you see it coming on...STOP... and throw that baby in reverse!

I am for all intensive purposes probably one of the more joyful people you will meet.  I am extremely optimistic, for the most part, occasionally this will lighten up a bit, but in speaking of myself, I think for the most part I am an upbeat and joyful person.  So when I see all the people around me making a special occasion for saying that they are thankful, this is a good thing, but lets' be thankful everyday.

Being thankful is an attitude.  It is like being joyful is an attitude.  These are choices that we make.  And this is a choice we should make the minute our eyes open in the morning and we say Thank you God, Thank you Jesus, and Thank you Holy Spirit!  Make this your choice! Every single day!

God is too good, to not have Him present in your life, every single moment of every single day.  I do not want to put God in a box, do you?  And I know that having "Days of Thankfulness" is a really good idea, because it focuses us on being thankful and this is a good thing.  But what I want to see happen is for people to in general be thankful for even the little things everyday.  If we spend time thinking on these things we will spend less and less time, perhaps, thinking on things we shouldn't.

When your child comes home from school and has grass stains on his new khaki pants with a paper in his hand to show you the lovely picture he drew in school today...are you going to look at the pants or the drawing?  Do you hear what I am saying?  He is gripping that picture in his little hand because he doesn't want to loose it; he made that for you, his parent, be thankful and share his joy.  The pants will wash!

Now, go and be a blessing to someone today, you may be the only joy in someone's day.
